Research Summary

My work involves the analysis of yeast DJ-1 homologs which are multifunctional and provides stress tolerance, however they are under studied and its investigation would unravel key features of human DJ-1. Reactive carbonyls such as methylglyoxal and glyoxal generated during various metabolism have deleterious effects on vital components of cell. Therefore, my project comprises detailed study of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Hsp31 proteins in regulating carbonyl toxicity.
